Welcome to the DAV Website
The DAV is a non-profit association which exists to promote debate. It
is the peak debating body in Victoria and runs large competitions for
adults and for schools across Victoria. It provides training and
resources for debaters, teachers and adjudicators.
We are excited to be offering an in person Debate Camps for Years 7-12 students in the Easter holidays.
Please note that there are a limited number of spaces available and students are encouraged to register early to guarantee their place. If you cannot attend but would like to be added to our mailing list for future camps please e-mail debater@dav.com.au.
Upon registering you will receive a confirmation email and consent form. Invoices will be sent on receipt of consent forms.
Students will benefit attending sessions focused on improving their debating skills. They will then put these skills into practice in debates against fellow attendees.
We are offering flexible registration. Students can attend the whole program or a combination of 1 or 2 days.
The program is open to students in years 7 and 8 with little to no understanding of debating.
When: Thursday 10th April/Monday 14th April
Where: City Cite, Level 12/474 Flinders St, Melbourne (Thurs)/Huntingtower School, Waimarie Dr, Mount Waverley (Mon).
Who: Students in Years 7-8
Cost: $130 for single day registrations, inclusive of lunch.
This camp is an intermediate program, open to students in years 9-10 with some previous debating experience.
The non-residential camp will run from 9.30am-3.30pm each day and will consist of seminars on recurring debating themes, workshops to improve debating and public speaking skills, and the chance to participate in multiple debates to receive feedback from experienced adjudicators.
When: 15th, 16th April
Where: Huntingtower School, Waimarie Dr, Mount Waverley
Cost: $220 per student for the 2-day program or $130 for single day registrations, inclusive of lunch.
This camp is a senior program, open to students in years 11-12 with extensive previous debating experience.
The non-residential camp will run from 9.30am-3.30pm each day and will consist of seminars on recurring debating themes, workshops to improve debating and public speaking skills, and the chance to participate in multiple debates to receive feedback from experienced adjudicators.
