The DAV is a non-profit association which exists to promote debate. It is the peak debating body in Victoria and runs large competitions for adults and for schools across Victoria. It provides training and resources for debaters, teachers and adjudicators.

Monash Asian Studies Debate Competition

A debating competition open to students from Years 10-12, run by the DAV in conjunction with the School of Languages, Literatures, Cultures and Linguistics at Monash University. The topics will focus on contemporary issues relevant to Asia.

The competition will consist of three preliminary rounds and a final. Debates will be hosted online through the Zoom videoconferencing platform. Teams will indicate their preference for debate times on the registration form and will be allocated to three debates against opposition schools. Debates will begin in late April and must be completed before 20 July 2020.

Schools may enter up to one team in this competition (with an option to enter a second team if there is space).
